At the 19th European System & Software Process Improvement and Innovation (EuroSPI2) conference at BENA Business Base Nineteen, Vienna, Austria 25. - 27. June 2012 the paper entitled ‘Social Responsibility Management: A Preparatory Study in Higher Education with Suggestions for Process Reference Models’written byKerstin Siakas, Alexander Technological Educational Institution of Thessaloniki, Greece, Miguel-Angel Sicilia, University of Alcalá,Spain, Miklos Biro, Software Competence Center Hagenberg, Austria and Konstantinos Triantafillou, Alexander TechnologicalEducational Institution of Thessaloniki, Greece was presented by Kerstin Siakas in the ES 7: SPI & Stakeholder Improvement 26.06.2012, 17.00-18.10, in Room: KR1, with Gabrielle Sauber as chair. The audience (25-30 people) seemed to be very interested in:
a) The Social Responsibility theme in generalb) Differences in attitudes in different contexts and cultural environments
c) The question regarding if Social Responsibility should be included as a separate subject or be embedded in different engineering subjects at Higher Educational Institutions.
d) The proposal to include Social Responsibility as a new crosscutting area in different Process Reference Models, such as Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI), Systems Engineering - System life cycle processes (ISO/IEC 15288) and Systems and software engineering – Software life cycle (ISO/IEC 12207).
The Spanish Example showing how the incorporation of Social Responsibility in the Supplier Management Process in the ITIL Process Model regarding continuous service improvement (slide 22) was in particular useful to make the audience understand how explicit consideration of social responsibility in supplier strategy will influence other processes such as elements of labour practices, environmental issues and ‘evaluation of new Suppliers and Contracts’ Process.
The paper was published in the in the Wiley SPIP Series experience papers’ proceedings. At the conference there was a stand of ECQA and ISCN where the SOCIRES leaflet was on display. During the presentation session the SOCIRES leaflet was handed out to participants.
Dissemination at Warsaw University of Applied Scineces, Poland June 212
The SOCIRES project has been also disseminated widely in Poland, Warsaw University of Applied Sciences. Vassilis Kostoglou visited the University (Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics) and between his lectures gave a speech about SOCIRES to postgraduate students. The presentation of project’s concept and contents was carried out on the 14th of June 2012.
Additionally, dissemination material was circulated to both postgraduate students and members of academic staff. Totally, 25 persons were informed thoroughly about the project.
A number of SOCIRES leaflets have been left in the Dean’s office for the information of additional persons
