General on Transfers in Competition

We transfer after:

- partner opened and RHO overcalled or doubled

- LHO opened and partner overcalled or doubled

- Rubensohl situations

Transfer to a new suit shows 8+ points and:

- good suit + tolerance for partner's suit. Partner's next bid will probably be passed.

- support partner's suit and good 4+ card side suit (trial bid in advance). After partner accepts, his original suit will be raised. 

- good suit and invitational+ strength (without tolerance for partner's suit). 

INT accepts the transfer, with 2+ card support and 14- points. Otherwise she:

- rebids her suit or bids another – NF

- jump bids her or FOL' suit or reverses – invitation

- cuebidis – invitation +. FOL bids NT with a ST, other bids are natural. If later INT bids above 3NT, her cue showed a control.

When opps double the transfer:

- accept of the transfer shows 4 card support. If it is a jump bid, it shows 15+ points. 

- rdbl shows 3 card support and undefined strength

- other bids are natural, pass does not deny extra strength
